Stefano Vitale was born in Pauda, Italy and now lives with his wife and two young children in Oyster Bay Cove, New York. While studying for a degree in Economics at the University of Southern California, Vitale often traveled to Mexico and the Southwest. There he found inspiration in the simplicity of the popular local folk art which influenced him so that when he completed his economics degree Vitale continued at The Arts Center in Pasadena, California for a Bachelor of Fine Arts. Vitale¡¯s oil paintings on wood have earned him international awards and most recently a retrospective of his life¡¯s work in his hometown of Padua, Italy. Vitale is best known for his beautiful folk-style which has earned him numerous awards and a reputation as one of the most sought after children¡¯s book illustrators.
